Our Veterinarians

Dr. Bennett
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Bennett grew up on a horse ranch in rural Nevada, where she was surrounded by horses and cattle, pot-bellied pigs, dogs and cats, parrots, chickens, and plenty of wildlife. She’s been caring for animals of every shape and size for as long as she can remember! When Dr. Bennett started working one-on-one with others’ pets as a licensed veterinarian, she had a realization: what she truly loves is connecting with her community’s families and helping their animal companions to live the happiest and healthiest lives possible.

Dr. Bennett’s animal-care career began at her local small-animal clinic, where she signed on as a kennel attendant during high school. Next, she attended Colorado State University to earn her undergraduate degree in biology, and remained at the University to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bennett worked in an emergency pet hospital during her schooling, and also helped with a number of international wildlife projects during her studies—she worked with wildlife in South Africa and even completed a one-month preceptorship at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

After veterinary school, Dr. Bennett moved to Louisiana and completed a year-long rotating internship. When she realized she missed the personal connections with pets and their families, she made the decision to transition away from emergency and specialty medicine into general practice—it wasn’t long before Dr. Bennett found Clearview Veterinary Hospital! She started in August of 2014 and has been here ever since; now, Dr. Bennett is proud to serve as the practice owner.

Medically, Dr. Bennett is passionate about abdominal ultrasounds and surgical procedures. What she likes most about her job, though, is teaching her clients and staff everything she knows about the veterinary profession—being able to make a lasting difference is the ultimate reward!

Dr. Bennett’s interests outside of work include martial arts, flying (she is a licensed helicopter pilot!), traveling, and spending quality time with her family. She and her husband, Cody, have a young daughter who loves all things purple and princesses, as well as a toddler-aged son who is obsessed with anything that makes noise.

The family shares their lives with two dogs: Odin, a white Akita that has seen Dr. Bennett through college, a tornado, a cross-country move, and countless other adventures; and a Havenese poodle mix named Nemo who has a knack for finding turtles wherever he goes. Dr. Bennett and her family also enjoy the company of their bearded dragon, Kevin, as well as two cats: Gryffin, who loves ping-pong balls and food; and Sheldon, who Dr. Bennett rescued as a kitten after a police officer found him in a bush and brought him to the emergency clinic she was employed with at the time.
Dr. Janet T. Tosh
Veterinarian
Though she was the middle sibling of five children growing up here in Louisiana, Dr. Janet Tosh was the one who assumed the responsibility of taking care of her family’s dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, birds, and other pets. She’s always had an affinity for pet care, and knew that she wanted to help animals professionally. Dr. Tosh never gave up on her dream—now, she’s served the area’s pets and animal owners as a part of the Clearview Veterinary Hospital team for more than 30 years!

It was during her undergraduate years studying pre-veterinary medicine that Dr. Tosh started cleaning kennels during summers off. She also volunteered at a large- and small-animal practice in Ruston during that time, and would sign on to work there after graduating from veterinary school. Next, Dr. Tosh returned to New Orleans to continue her veterinary career—she would care for pets and animal owners in various practices for the next nine years.

Dr. Tosh founded the Clearview Veterinary Hospital family in early 1988, and has been helping the area’s pets and animal parents ever since. Her favorite part of her work is developing relationships with her clients and their pets—knowing that she’s able to help families enjoy their pets for as long as possible is the ultimate reward!

Along with her husband and daughter, Dr. Tosh shares her home with three rescued pets: Kermit the Jack Russell Terrier mix, who loves to practice his agility training or relax to the soothing sounds of the television, as well as two cats who go by Alice and Noel.
