Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, and care deeply about what we do every day.
Dr. Bennett grew up on a horse ranch in rural Nevada, where she was surrounded by horses and cattle, pot-bellied pigs, dogs and cats, parrots, chickens, and plenty of wildlife. She’s been caring for animals of every shape and size for as long as she can remember! When Dr. Bennett started working one-on-one with others’ pets as a licensed veterinarian, she had a realization: what she truly loves is connecting with her community’s families and helping their animal companions to live the happiest and healthiest lives possible.
Dr. Bennett’s animal-care career began at her local small-animal clinic, where she signed on as a kennel attendant during high school. Next, she attended Colorado State University to earn her undergraduate degree in biology, and remained at the University to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bennett worked in an emergency pet hospital during her schooling, and also helped with a number of international wildlife projects during her studies—she worked with wildlife in South Africa and even completed a one-month preceptorship at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
After veterinary school, Dr. Bennett moved to Louisiana and completed a year-long rotating internship. When she realized she missed the personal connections with pets and their families, she made the decision to transition away from emergency and specialty medicine into general practice—it wasn’t long before Dr. Bennett found Clearview Veterinary Hospital! She started in August of 2014 and has been here ever since; now, Dr. Bennett is proud to serve as the practice owner.
Medically, Dr. Bennett is passionate about abdominal ultrasounds and surgical procedures. What she likes most about her job, though, is teaching her clients and staff everything she knows about the veterinary profession—being able to make a lasting difference is the ultimate reward!
Dr. Bennett’s interests outside of work include martial arts, flying (she is a licensed helicopter pilot!), traveling, and spending quality time with her family. She and her husband, Cody, have a young daughter who loves all things purple and princesses, as well as a toddler-aged son who is obsessed with anything that makes noise.
The family shares their lives with their dog Odin, a white Akita that has seen Dr. Bennett through college, a tornado, a cross-country move, and countless other adventures. Dr. Bennett and her family also enjoy the company of their bearded dragon, Kevin, as well as two cats: Gryffin, who loves ping-pong balls and food; and Sheldon, who Dr. Bennett rescued as a kitten after a police officer found him in a bush and brought him to the emergency clinic she was employed with at the time.
Dr. Kay Hecker will never forget the time that, as a little girl, she found an injured kitten outside of a Walgreens. She and her father took the poor creature to a veterinary clinic, then nursed it back to health at home. Eventually, she helped the kitten find its forever home. That experience made a lasting impression—Dr. Hecker knew that caring for pets was her true calling!
Dr. Hecker is a New Orleans native and frequently fostered pets with her family while growing up. She attended Louisiana State University for her undergraduate studies in animal science, working as a Veterinary Technician at a clinic in Baton Rouge throughout that time. Next, Dr. Hecker relocated to the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean, where she earned her Doctorate at Ross University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. She’s been a practicing veterinarian ever since!
Medically, Dr. Hecker is fond of internal medicine cases and the challenges of putting puzzle pieces together to form a diagnosis. She also likes radiology and ultrasound. Above all, Dr. Hecker loves knowing that her hard work makes a lasting difference in the lives of not only pets, but their loving owners as well.
Away from work, Dr. Hecker likes spending time outdoors and going for hikes and runs with her dogs. She even ran the Rock and Roll Marathon in New Orleans before going to veterinary school! She and her fiancé share their lives with two loveable canine companions: Joe, a Pit Bull mix who Dr. Hecker adopted from the island of St. Kitts, and a Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix who is one of the smartest dogs Dr. Hecker has ever known.
When Dr. Edmond was in preschool, she attended a birthday party that would ultimately shape the trajectory of her life. There, she discovered horseback riding and was instantly hooked! After that, for as long as she can remember, she would spend every spare moment at the barn, riding and learning proper equine care. At high school graduation, one of Dr. Edmond’s teachers gifted her the class turtle, who she still owns to this day. As one of the veterinarians here at Clearview Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Edmond is fulfilling her life’s ambition of working with animals and loving every minute of it!
Following high school, Dr. Edmond attended Texas A&M University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. She remained in Texas and spent a few years working as a breeding manager at an Arabian horse farm before going on to pursue her master’s degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences. While in school, Dr. Edmond worked at a local clinic where she learned more about small animal medicine. It was at that point she decided to become a vet. After receiving her DVM from St. George’s University in Granada, Dr. Edmond returned to TX for her clinicals and then came home to New Orleans.
Dr. Edmond met Dr. Bennett during her internship. The two have remained in touch over the years, until an opportunity arose to join the Clearview Veterinary Hospital team. Right away, Dr. Edmond knew it would be the perfect fit, and the rest is history. Professionally, she enjoys the connections she shares with her clients and how they’ve welcomed her as part of their extended families. Her clinical interests include preventative care and surgery.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Edmond and her husband Nick are the proud parents of two daughters: Colette and Claire. Their animal family members include a dachshund named Manchas, a Rhodesian ridgeback named Aggie, an adopted cat named Maple Syrup, and Travis, the Red-eared slider turtle. They also have two Arabian horses, Sky and Adonis, who reside offsite. When she’s not busy working or tending to her family, Dr. Edmond enjoys attending Pelicans games and spending time at the barn with the horses.
