New Year’s Day With Your Pet

January 1, 2023

Happy New Year! 2022 is now officially in the rear view mirror. As we sail ahead into 2023, this is a perfect time to revisit your pet’s care regimen, and perhaps put a few things on the agenda for the coming year. A local New Orleans, LA vet offers a few tips on starting the new year out on the right paw in this article.

Quiet Time

Many of our patients are terrified by the fireworks and loud noises, and New Year’s Eve is heavy on both. If your little buddy was scared by noise and commotion last night, pay some extra attention to them today. Keep things quiet and cozy, and just let them relax and unwind. (A special treat would not be inappropriate.)

Reflect

New Year’s Day is typically a time for many people to sit back, take stock of where they are in their lives, and think about what they want out of the coming year. Pets are great for offering quiet comfort and support in these moments! They’re also wonderful sources of inspiration. For instance, Fluffy is a purrfect role model when it comes to getting enough sleep, while Fido is a walking, barking reminder to stay active, stay loyal, and just have fun.

Take Stock

This is a wonderful time to take a close look at your pet’s care regimen, and see if there’s anything that could be improved. Your vet can be a great resource for this, so don’t be shy about asking questions!

Spoil Them (Properly)

Small things like toys, treats, and comfy beds can make a huge difference in your pet’s quality of life. If you tend to make resolutions but then taper off, you may want to consider subscription boxes. There are some really great ones for pets!

Make A Commitment

New Year’s Day is a time to commit to positive growth. You can definitely include your pet in that! You don’t have to go too crazy: small steps can add up to big changes. Make a habit of spending quality time with your four-legged friend every day. The time we have with our furry friends passes much too quickly.

All of us here at Clearview Veterinary Hospital, your New Orleans, LA animal clinic, wish you a wonderful new year. We look forward to providing your pet with top-notch veterinary care in 2023 and beyond.
